How I Went from Chicken and Rice to a Clean Plant-based Diet
There is no hard and fast way to transition to a plant-based eating lifestyle because every body is different and our goals are different. I used to eat everything - in droves. I've always been athletic and had a high metabolism so being fat wasn't ever at the front of my mind. I used to eat all types of meat, carbs, and sugars. My weakness was pastries. Then something changed - I wanted to see how I could push the limits of my body in fitness. I started to doing yoga and martial arts but my diet was weighing me down. My ultimate goal is having the healthiest possible body. I knew I had to make a drastic shift in the way I ate.
@@When I shifted my mindset towards food, I was able to eliminate toxic food products from my life and start feeding my body the right fuel.@@
These are the realizations I had to go through to be mentally ready to eliminate:
The definition of food our culture taught us is flawed
For the body to perform at its optimal, we have to get the garbage out. We’ve spent years blindly putting products into our body that can hurt us more than help. Our culture uses the word food very losely - my philosophy is “If it isn’t nutrient-rich and from the earth, it’s a product, not food”. When we get the toxins from products out of our system, we can start to rebuild the body. Consuming processed foods causes degeneration of those organs we need to function. For an efficient body, we need to be properly fed and properly hydrated. Dehydration is the first sign of degeneration - the body needs water to function, which explains the 8 glasses a day rule. Running your body on improper nutrition is like driving a car day after day without any servicing or oil changes. Eventually it will break down, which is what we call “old age” but I look at it as sickness.
We’re sick, not aging
Most of us have been sick our whole life. Really, from birth. Prenatal nutrition plays a huge role in the health of newborns. So you may be saying, “I’m not sick” because you’re not bedridden or terminal. But most of us are - we just don’t know it because our point of reference for normal and healthy is skewed. You have to move the line of what you think healthy is to really be ready to change. In my experience, I feel better than I’ve ever felt when I started eliminating processed foods and meat from my lifestyle. I feel so much more energetic, light, and strong. And here is the kicker, I still enjoy food! A lot.

A plant-based diet is not more expensive or hard to implement
I found that when I ate meat and processed ‘foods’, I consumed a lot more than I do now. Lack of nutrients had me feeling hungry a lot more often. Now I get full a lot quicker because I’m eating nutrient dense foods, so I eat less often and in smaller portions. I can go a lot longer without a meal and still feel energetic.
You can live an exciting, flavorful food life. Spices is what makes the meal taste well. I add those to my vegetable based meals. You have to want the change. It was exciting for me because I am on a mission to find out if dedication to my body can allow me to stay young. More and more you’re seeing reports of people in their 60s, 70s, and 80s who are super fit and active. Those are my people. You won’t have the reasons I do, but what is your motivation to live a life not bogged down by toxic food products.
When I shifted my mindset towards food, I was able to eliminate from my life the food products that weren't building my body and start feeding my body the right fuel. It took me a lot of research to get to the clean way of eating I practice now. I want to share it with you in my Elimination Guide that has the steps I took to transition to a plant-based diet, 2 important steps that most people leave out that lead to backsliding, recipes that will help you along the way.
